Death

Dr. Manel Sans Segarra is a Spanish physician and professor specializing in internal medicine and geriatrics. In his writings and lectures, he has spoken about death from a medical and human perspective.

According to Dr. Sans Segarra, death is a natural and necessary process in the life of every human being. Although it can be painful and difficult to accept, it is a fundamental part of life and should not be feared or avoided.

The doctor has also spoken about the importance of palliative care and end-of-life care, assuring that it is essential to provide dignified and humane care to people who are in their last days of life.

In summary, Dr. Manel Sans Segarra sees death as a natural and inevitable process of life, and defends the importance of providing dignified and humane care to people in their last days of life.

Is there such a thing as death?

Death is a complex concept and whether or not it exists depends on how it is defined. From a biological point of view, death refers to the cessation of the body’s vital functions, such as breathing and heartbeat. From a philosophical or spiritual point of view, death can have different meanings, such as the transit to another plane of existence or the total annihilation of consciousness.

Is there life after death?

The idea of life after death is a concept present in many cultures and religions throughout history. The belief in an afterlife is based on the idea that there is something that continues after the death of the physical body. The concept of an afterlife varies widely among different cultures and religions, but it is commonly believed to be a state of eternal existence in a place of rest, a reincarnation into another body, or a final judgment. However, there are also many people who believe that death is the end of all conscious existence. Science has not found solid evidence of life after death, and the subject remains one of mankind’s greatest mysteries.

The process of death

Dying companionship refers to providing emotional, physical and spiritual support to a person who is ill or dying, and to his or her family. The main objective of this accompaniment is to provide comfort, to help the person prepare for death and to provide support to loved ones after death.

The accompaniment

The accompaniment in a dying process may include:

  • Listen and talk to the sick person, providing comfort and emotional support.
  • Help the person prepare for death by providing information about palliative care and available treatments.
  • Help the person to express his or her concerns, fears and desires.
  • Help the family prepare for the death and provide emotional support after the death.
  • Assist the family in making funeral arrangements and providing support after the death.

It is important to keep in mind that accompaniment in a dying process may be different for each person and family, and should be adapted to individual needs and wishes. It is important to provide personalized and respectful care, and to maintain open and honest communication with the sick person and his or her family.

Near-Death Experiences NDEs

A near-death experience (NDE) is an account of someone who has been on the verge of death and has experienced certain phenomena. These accounts often include visions of bright light, feelings of peace and tranquility, and sometimes also include visions of deceased loved ones or of a spirit world. Some people who have had an NDE report feeling that they were detached from their body and saw themselves from outside, or that they saw a “tunnel” or a light at the end of it. Others report having a sense of “going back and forth” or visiting a different place or dimension.

There are several theories about NDEs, including that they are an illusion created by the brain in a moment of extreme stress, or that they are a manifestation of a consciousness independent of the physical body, but there is no universally accepted explanation. Even so, these experiences are considered a real phenomenon and have been studied by physicians, neuroscientists, philosophers and other specialists in different fields.

Coincidences

Common elements of near-death experiences (NDEs) include:

  • The sensation of leaving the body: many people report feeling as if they were floating out of their body and observing their own bodies from an outside perspective.
  • A corridor or tunnel: many people describe seeing a corridor or tunnel with a bright light at the end.
  • Encounters with deceased loved ones: some people report seeing family members or friends who have passed away.
  • The feeling of peace and tranquility: many people report feeling a great sense of peace and tranquility during their experience.
  • The feeling of returning to the body: at the end of the experience, many people report feeling that they were returning to their bodies.

It is important to mention that these elements are not universal and that each person may have a different experience. In addition, these experiences have also been criticized by some scientists and mental health experts, as there is no solid scientific evidence to support the existence of near-death experiences.
